Open nominations: Two Elected Directors (Trustees)
As we continue delivering our 10-year strategy - It All Starts with Play!, Play England is inviting nominations for two Elected Directors (Trustees) to strengthen our Board.
These elections mark the final stage of the governance transition agreed by members at our 2024 Annual General Meeting. Together with the appointment of our Independent Chair, Senior Independent Director, Independent Directors and Treasurer, they will complete the transition to our new Board structure.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for people who share Play England’s values, believe in children’s right to play and can bring knowledge, experience and insight from the play sector and the communities we serve.
We are particularly keen to hear from people connected to:
playwork, staffed play provision, adventure playgrounds and community play
the play industry
voluntary, community and grassroots organisations
children’s rights, participation and advocacy
public services connected to children’s play
research, policy and campaigning relating to children and play
You do not need experience across every area. What matters is that you understand the importance of play and can make a constructive contribution to the strategic leadership of Play England.
Elected Directors work alongside our Independent Directors and share collective responsibility for the governance and long-term success of the charity. They are not representatives of any particular organisation or constituency and, like all trustees, must act in the best interests of Play England.
How to nominate
Nominations open on Friday 31 July 2026 and close at 5.00pm on Friday 18 September 2026.
You may put yourself forward or nominate another individual. The successful candidates will be elected by Full Members at Play England’s Annual General Meeting on Thursday 8 October 2026.
