Adventure Playgrounds in the Community – Fort Apache

  • DATE: May 2011

Play England made this short film to show how an adventure playground can give children the freedom to play creatively in ways which may not be possible elsewhere in their neighbourhoods. It was filmed at the Fort Apache Adventure Playground near Torbay.

This five-minute video features interviews with staff, volunteers, street wardens and the children themselves. It shows how staffed play provision can provide unique opportunities for children to play and develop, right on their doorsteps.

This film was produced by Mark Lister, previously Senior Programme Development Officer at Play England.

More information about how adventure playgrounds integrate their work with the communities they serve can be found in our report Adventure Playgrounds: Built by Communities.
