Play is an essential part of every child's life, and children at school and in early years settings need time and space to play.
Our new and exciting Play in Schools and Children's Services
support package is about giving all schools and children's services
in England the inspiration, resources and support to enable them to
provide access to high-quality, stimulating and exciting play
opportunities, raise awareness and understanding of the value of
play, and embed a playful culture.
What's on offer?
Play England offers a consultancy service for schools and children's services and is developing a series of packages, products and support around topics including:
- National guidance and developments in play
- Good practice
- Policy developments to support play
- Practical play audits
- Maximising the naturally occurring play
opportunities
- Play training and education
- Partnerships to develop play
- Demonstrating the impact of play
- Progression to quality assurance
Support has recently been provided in these areas for primary
schools across Sandwell and Staffordshire.
Who can use this service?
The service will be available throughout England to:
- All schools (either individually and clusters)
- Children's Centres
- Early years and childcare settings
- Day nurseries
- Out of school clubs
- Open access play provision
- Extended services
The Play in Schools group brings together national and regional agencies and local authority representatives who have an interest in improving play provision within schools.
