Overview:

This two-day course is for anyone who would like to help play providers navigate the Quality in Play process and who meets the person specification below.

Mentors can work independently with external groups or could be a manager or staff member trained to support their own team. Mentors act as a critical friend for play providers - while they don't do the work of the provider, they support the process of self-assessment, and supports them to put any changes into practice and prepare for the assessment process.

As well as holding a register of trained mentors and promoting their work, Play England also provides mentors with regular feedback and training to help with their continued development, as well as maintaining an online forum for peer support.

What to expect at the training:

This two-day training event will prepare you to mentor play providers as they work through the Quality in Play programme. The programme will cover the following areas over 2 full days:

- Quality in Play in context

- The cycle of commitment, planning, action and review

- Standards, assessment, key actions, evidence

- Support materials for mentors and play providers

- Barriers to success

- The role of the mentor

- Mentor support and expectations

Attendees will be provided with a Quality in Play manual and training pack, as well as a USB memory stick with support materials.  Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
