Join our assessment team and help us to support quality play experiences for children!
As a trained assessor, you will work with Play England to evaluate applications for Quality in Play accreditation. You will work with Quality in Play staff and play providers to do the following:
Play England provides assessors with regular feedback and training to help with their continued development.
What to expect on the training day
The training programme will cover the following areas:
- assessing portfolios against criteria for accreditation
- visiting providers, observing and interviewing staff, children and parents
- report-writing skills
- practical exercises in assessment
- the relationship with Play England and support available for assessors.
The trainer will equip you to carry out robust, fair and consistent assessments through exploring:
- your role as an assessor
- Quality in Play programme and requirements for accreditation
- assessment process challenges, solutions and support
- how to write an assessment report
- practical exercises
- the policy context
- questions, answers and checking our understanding.
By the end of the session, you will:
- be clear about the policy context, importance of robust assessment and Quality in Play programme requirements
- be able to describe the assessment process and role of the assessor
- understand the report writing requirements and be ready to write a narrative report
- have any issues and concerns answered or passed to Play England.
