Play Design Network

The Play Design Network is a collaboration of people interested and involved in improving the design and potential of spaces for children and young people's play and informal recreation.

Play England convenes the Play Design Network. The group is made up of individuals from national and regional agencies, organisations and local authorities that are interested and involved in improving the design of play spaces. Network members attend meetings and receive and share information via email and meet three times year.

The aim of this network is to deepen debate and discussion, and share expertise on issues related to improving the design of play spaces in order to better influence more effective policy and practice.

Objectives

The Play Design Network aims to:

  • share information, network and learn from the experiences of members
  • provide a coordinating role to improving play design
  • develop a database of contacts
  • identify key issues facing the sector.

Intended activities

The group is considering these activities for the future:

  • produce a position statement on good design
  • provide a coordinated response to lobbying on the policy and practice of external stakeholders including government agencies and regional bodies
  • provide a coordinated response to government consultations.
