Managing risk in play provision seminars
December 2008: Building on the upcoming publication of guidance on managing risk in play provision, these three national policy seminars were aimed at explaining the new approaches and how providers could strike a balance between the risk and benefits of offering children more challenging play opportunities.
Annual members meeting
November 2008 - London: The annual meeting was a unique opportunity to hear about Play England's recent activities and future plans - including the launch of the new Quality in Play.
Playday 2008 - Give us a go!
August 2008: On Playday and throughout the summer of 2008, thousands of children, young people and communities attended hundreds of locally organised play events across the UK.
Play Fair
July 2008: Play England joined industry partners at this free national event about the selection, design and installation of children’s outdoor play, sport and amenity equipment.
Possible Futures for Playwork: The Big Event
POSTPONED: A key national event in Nottingham to provide a platform for playwork sector to come together and consider what the profession should look like in the coming decades. Bursaries available for playworkers living or working in England.
Places to Go?
May 2008: A national conference by Play England, Sustrans, Living Streets and the National Children's Bureau to promote place-shaping, safer streets and sustainable transport for a child friendly public realm.
Playday organisers' seminars
March - April 2008: The events were a great opportunity to learn about putting on a Playday event and to meet fellow Playday organisers.
Quality in Play focus group
March 2008: Play England held a focus group to help in updating Quality in Play – the first step in developing a new national programme for the quality assurance system for staffed play providers.
Play in prisons: Doing it justice
March 2008: Play England held a free national policy seminar to investigate the potential for improving the quality and quantity of play facilities for children visiting prisons.
Play and health: Investigating the links
March 2008: Play England ran a free national policy seminar to investigate the potential for joint work between the play sector and children’s health services.
Cityscape
February 2008: Play England hosted a play design network meeting at Cityscape, a free national event dedicated to sustainable urban design and the public realm.
