Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions about Play England membership.

Q: What is the difference between full and associate membership?

A: Full members are entitled to vote at the annual members meeting and associate members are not.

Q: Can different departments within my organisation sign up to become members of Play England?

A: Yes, different departments can sign up for membership but only one person from your organisation will be able to vote at the annual members meeting. Please state your department clearly on your application form.

Q: What is Play England’s definition of a regional organisation compared to a local organisation?

A: We define regional as covering more than one county (or borough if in London), and local as covering only one county (or borough) or an area within a county (or borough).

Q: My department covers a region but is part of a national organisation; can we join as a regional member instead of a national?

A: Yes, please state clearly on your application form if this is the case.

Q: Can a play partnership become a member of Play England?

A: Yes, please contact us for further information and advice on which category you come under.

Q: Can I join if I am based outside of England?

A: No. Play England’s membership is only open to those who are either living or working in England.

Q: When does my membership start?

A: Your membership starts once notification of payment has been received.

Q: Can I add additional contacts to my organisations membership?

A: Yes, members are allowed one main contact and two additional contacts per organisation. Please contact membership to add or change the contact information for your organisation.

Q: How many member events are held per year?

A: Members meet as the Play England Council three times a year. There are two general meetings and an annual members meeting.

Q: What is the Strategic Advisory Board?

A: The Strategic Advisory Board is a group of members who advise Play England on its programme and strategic direction. They are elected from the membership at the annual members meeting and meet three times a year.

Q: Can members use the Play England logo in publicity or marketing material?

A: No. Members are not permitted to use our logo as this may imply Play England’s endorsement of products or services.

Q: I used to be a member when Play England was formally known as the Children’s Play Council (CPC). Does my membership carry over to Play England?

A: No. All CPC memberships expired at the end of March 2008. To become a member of Play England you will need to apply.
