Since 2006, the team has worked with regional local authorities and their partners to develop and implement play strategies as part of the Big Lottery Fund’s Children’s Play programme. Through this process, a massive £17.5 million has been allocated to play in the region to date.
Play England has now been awarded a key government contract to support and challenge local authorities to develop more and better play spaces with their funding allocation as part of The Children’s Plan and subsequent national play strategy. The £1.5 million contract spans three years and Play England North West will continue to work with regional stakeholders to ensure the play funding has the maximum local impact and long-term benefit.
