Play England joins The Sports and Play Construction Association (SAPCA)

The Sports and Play Construction Association (SAPCA) is the UK’s trade association for the sports and play construction industry.

The association’s 220+ members are carefully vetted for excellence and are committed to SAPCA’s Codes of Practice and guidelines – ensuring they work to the highest standards.

SAPCA and its members set the standards for excellence in the design, construction and maintenance of sports and play facilities across the UK.

Joining SAPCA is part of our drive to form strategic partnerships with wider sector organisations and to work with national stakeholders and partners with shared aims to raise awareness about the importance of play to the nation’s health and wellbeing.

Play England Executive Director, Eugene Minogue, said: “We’re delighted to be joining SAPCA, to further strengthen and deepen our strategic partnerships and relationships across the play construction industry. Industry is an integral partner in providing, protecting and enhancing playgrounds and wider play and recreational facilities across the nation. These facilities are the very heart of our communities and daily lives. They are vital in providing spaces and places for children, young people and families to play.

Through membership of SAPCA, we will further enhance the quality of facilities for play, by better informing industry through our expertise, insight and guidance – such as our designing for play and quality in play quality assurance system, amongst others. Additionally, it will further enhance and amplify our call on Govt. to introduce Play Sufficiency legislation in England.

We very much look forward to working with SAPCA members and industry partners to further develop our strategic aims and build a more active, playful nation!”

SAPCA is delighted to welcome Play England as an affiliate member. The national charity, Play England campaigns for the rights of children (and young people) to have freedom and space to play.

SAPCA Chief Executive, Richard Shaw, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Play England to SAPCA.

Play England is at the forefront of showing that play is fundamental to children and their development. Such commitment to building an active nation means they are natural partners to SAPCA and our members, we will work alongside Play England to ensure high quality play and recreational facilities are in place to help them reach their strategic aims.”
